Thanks to Lana Del Rey, floral crowns have become a huge hit with fashionistas this summer. Although this isn’t exactly a look you can pull out for the office, it’s perfect head wear for festivals and general summer mischief. We’ve put together our five favorite DIY tutorials on getting the look with minimum fuss.
$2 Dollar Floral Crown
You can easily pick up a huge array of fake flowers from your local dollar store to customise your floral crown any way you want it. All this tutorial then requires you to do is attach them to a halo of wire and then use a glue gun to fix your flowers in place. And for only $2? Bargain.
Real Flower Crown
While fake flowers are obviously going to be a lot more durable and long-lasting, if you’re looking to make a flower crown for a particular event, especially if it’s something as formal as a wedding, making a floral crown from real flowers really isn’t as hard as you think. Plus this tutorial is for more of a half crown attached to a ribbon, which is a nice alternative as full floral crowns can sometimes overwhelm your look. Making a smaller half crown is definitely the more elegant approach.
Silk Flower Crown
Although this tutorial cost $12 to make, it’s still significantly cheaper than most store-bought floral crowns and you can definitely see the difference in using silk flowers over dollar-store finds.
Paper Floral Crown
This is an adorable twist on the floral crown trend, perfect for kids’ birthday parties or for flower girls at a wedding.
Floral Headband Crown
A full crown can be a bit of an impractical wear and might feel a little too costume-y at times, so this is a simple way to tone it down for a more wearable style. Also this is a great tutorial to customise in that way, you can tone down the flowers to a minimum to make this work for every day wear.
